Hello, I am Sophie
Project manager. Parent. An expat based in Paris, France.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't part of the long-term plan. As with many expat moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — learning new systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines started to take shape. We found places that fit our needs, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built Soft Cinder Path
A lot of information online was either corporate relocation tips or superficial travel material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in France.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from life in France
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- A guide to tourism authority
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in France goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue logging what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sophie
